‘Almost Auburn’ handspun yarn
$50.00
87g of drapey, richly coloured handspun alpaca yarn. One ply of ‘almost auburn’ and one ply of a dark brown and grey = naturally coloured perfection!
187g/3oz 2 ply handspun yarn
Medium weight / 9 WPI
Two hues of alpaca fleece are plied together to make this luxurious yarn - one a dark brown with a subtle shimmer of grey, and the other a medium red-brown. Sourced from a now-retired alpaca breeder in Grafton, NSW. Each alpaca had its name on the bag of fleece! These were happy, well cared for animals. No need to worry about the colours running as this is undyed, richly coloured fleece.
Semi-woollen spun from carded fleece. The alpaca is a long staple length, which increases the yarn’s durability. This is a drapey, warm yarn with some lustre and good resistance to pilling. Although the fleece is not super fine, it feels smooth and doesn’t have the ‘prickle’ of a coarse wool. Appropriate for items with moderate to high wear and tear.
Sold as a skein. Storing in skeins minimises the tension on the yarn strand, which means they stay bouncy! Wind into balls when you are ready to make your project.
This yarn has been gently hand washed in eco-friendly wool wash and stored in a climate controlled environment in a sealed tub. Please treat your finished piece with similar care to avoid felting and moth holes!
Many, MANY hours go into the sourcing, dyeing, spinning, plying and finishing of this yarn. I hope you love it!
